The introduction of form 696 in London’s boroughs could be about to start a worrying trend. In short, the form produced by the Metropolitan Police, is required to be completed by all venues putting on live music, for each individual event. The form collects data such as names, address and contact details of all performers and the type of music to be performed. Failure to comply could lead to a loss of licence. There is a fear that this intrusive piece of bureaucracy could spread to the rest of the UK.  The form already has high profile critics such as Fergal Sharkey, and the Musicians Union. Is this just another threat to the pub trade and live music? We hope not.
