You can vote through the big purple Music Town of the Year button on all pages of this website or by clicking here. CHANGES IN LICENSING TO HELP LIVE MUSIC
It seems that the many objections to ever tightening music licensing restrictions (best embodied by form 696 - see issue 1 http://www.digitalgig.co.uk/
news_issue-1.html) might have started to have an effect.
New legislation now means that venues with a capacity of less than 100 people no longer need to have a special licence for live music. Previously everyone from restaurants with piano players to small venues with live bands needed to have a live music licence.
The change will hopefully mean that more venues will be available for more unsigned bands to play. Better exposure and more gigs for all? We certainly hope so.
