Welcome to Jackpotville; capital city of the mad, mad world of The Jackpot Golden Boys. So wrap up warm in your best gold dressing gowns and take a sneaky peek around. You have been warned!
You first came to our attention through the Lancashire Evening Post Battle of the Bands competition way back in 2006. How have things gone since then?
Jackpot Jim: Phew, that was a while back but time’s gone so quick. Yea been going great. With the prize money we bought new equipment etc and since then we've done so many gigs… 2007 we recorded our Sweets and Creeps E.P.. which is available from our website and on itunes etc cough cough. We had 'Jackpot', the 1st song played by Annie Mac on Radio 1’s Switch show which was cool and were her band of the week. 2008 summer tour happened; we played London a few times went to Brighton, Portsmouth, and closer to home places like Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Preston etc.
What’s going on for The Jackpot Golden Boys in 2009?
Jackpot Jim: 2009, woo, well we’re currently just finishing off our new CD, should be a good mix of tracks. Some old, some new all fresh and raaaa exciting! So once its finished and we have a bunch to sell we'll be back on the road; should have a mini tour in april and a summer tour again
What’s the scene like in Jackpotville?
Jackpot Jim: Dark, dingy, bright, airy, old fashioned, yet modern. Everyone is super nice but its very violent and scary… hope that helps, you should visit sometime!
Who did you work with on your “Sweets and Creeps” EP?
Jackpot Jim: We recorded some ourselves at Jackpot HQ then went and finished off with our chum James from Myth of Unity… He had the skills to pay the bills.
What was the experience like?
Jackpot Jim: It was really good. It’s nice to hear songs you've been playin live for a while magically captured and squooze onto a CD…
Your live shows can get pretty crazy, How does it usually go down?
Jackpot Jim: Generally a few moments of confused looks but then its bursts out into party time. We seem to have a wide appeal from different music fans.. people seem to like us for their own special reasons, which is cool with us.
What kind of music is usually on the Jackpot’s music playlist?
Jackpot Jim: Well we all have quite varied taste but off the top of my head Mike is a bit of a Maiden fan, Hat likes Busted and the tunesmith, Alex has had a bit of Franky Valley on and I’ve had a bit Bob Marley on.
