Warpath are truly a band on the verge of something massive.  With their stunningly technical, riff drenched brand of Thrash, we’re certain in the very near future they will blast their way onto the international stage and never look back.  We managed to catch up with them due to an unforeseen break in their hectic schedule and ask them a few questions.

You released your first album ‘Damnation’ last year. What’s the response been like so far?

Rich: The response to Damnation has been incredible. We've received so many accolades and so much support from mainstream metal magazines, radio stations, TV stations, and most importantly, the fans, from all across the world. We're kicking ass with this album.

Pete: It’s almost been overwhelming with the amount of great comments we’re getting a year on after ‘Damnation’s release. We must be doing something right!

Pete (guitarist) is currently recovering from an accident. What effect has this had on Warpath’s year?

Rich: A few days before we were meant to go on tour, there was a motorbike crash near my house. Pete ran straight over to help the guy as there was on-coming traffic and burnt his hand on the engine of the bike. Pete had to be rushed to hospital and was told he wouldn't be able to play for a few weeks, which unfortunately meant we had to pull out of the tour. We were extremely disappointed as a lot of people were going to see us. We'll definitely make it up to the fans.

Pete: Although it was a horrible accident and I was extremely gutted and pissed off we were unable to take part in the tour it has not affected Warpath in anyway. My hand is healing nicely and I’m playing at lightning speed again! Thanks to everyone who supported us and left us and myself such nice and awesome messages, you kick ass!

What else is going on for Warpath in 2009?

Rich: We've been confirmed for a couple of wicked festivals, one is Thrash Inferno in Germany in November. There's another but I'm not allowed to say right now, but it'll be announced soon, it's the biggest one we'll have played so far! We also have a new music video being planned towards the end of the summer, as well as all new merchandise. T-Shirts and hoodies with the Damnation artwork printed. Towards the end of the year we'll release a new DVD with both music

videos on plus a lot of never-seen footage of us live, recording, rehearsing, and maybe even a few sneak peeks of new material.

You’ve recently started an eight week campaign to gain airplay in the US. How did this come about and how is it going?

Rich: I started talking to Munsey (the main guy behind the US radio play, wicked dude) about it late last year. He loved the record and agreed to work with us. The reaction has been unbelievable. The campaign started in February. We came in at Number One most added record in the entire country in the first week. That's a massive achievement for an unsigned band, outside of the USA. The album hit number 25 on the national radio charts and has stayed in the top fifty since. It's being played on over five hundred stations in the states, and a couple of hundred elsewhere in the

world. The campaign has actually been extended to twelve weeks now as it's been so successful.

What do you think are the main challenges facing UK bands wanting to break into the US market?

Rich: It depends really. You have to know what you're doing, or be willing to learn quickly, adapt and accept the hard work you have to put in. A lot of the UK bands really don't have much of a clue what they're doing, they don't stand a chance. They're lazy, and their friends and drinking buddies tell them what they want to hear, not what they need to know.
