Combining high energy vocals and great hard edged guitars, We’ll all be Heroes craft infectious melodies with an upbeat feel. Hailing from the North East of England this superb three piece are about to burst out to a wider audience with the release of their debut EP and album. We caught up with them just before they hit the road on their recent tour.
How did you meet and go on to form the band?
Roger: We all met through playing in another Middlesbrough band and formed WABH when that band had a few differences in direction and subsequently split.
Dave: I had been away studying music in Los Angeles for almost 2 years, when I got back I just slotted into a band Roger was playing in as their guitar player had just left to go to University. Roger and I have always got along great. James joined that group about a year later through an audition, I thought he was amazing. Once differences arose in that group, all 3 of us agreed on what we should do, and consequently quit the band to start We’ll All Be Heroes, a
band that has a real plan and positive outlook.
What’s been the highlight so far?
Dave: Writing and creating music with my friends. I have always written my own music, but being able to share ideas with 2 of my closest friends and all get a kick out of it has been amazing. I can’t wait to see what ideas come out next.
Roger: The highlight for me has definitely been the writing and recording process for the EP / album; I like seeing and hearing it all come together and then getting people’s reaction to the music.
James: Playing Live with these guys and bouncing our ideas off each over to create our detailed sound!
What’s been going on for We’ll All Be Heroes in 2009?
Dave: We have been recording our EP, which has been great, using a lot of new skills I learnt in my studies in the States. It’s been the first real chance I have had to get that stuff into music I have a hand in writing. We are in the studio in between shows, getting our album wrapped up.
Roger: Basically spreading the word through playing a bunch of fun shows and getting our music out there.

You’re about to embark on a UK tour. What are you looking forward to most about it?
Dave: Getting out there with the guys and putting on the best show we know how. Leaving all negative angst at the door and kicking out some good times.
Roger: Obviously playing the shows and the music, but I’m also looking forward to the whole tour vibe of hanging out as a band and meeting fans after shows and stuff.
James: Promoting our music further around the country and gaining a bigger fan base also rocking out!
What has the experience in the studio been like?
Dave: It’s been way exciting. We all have so many ideas, so it’s a lot of tracking and post production. Our engineer Chris Davison, and co producer Ryan Murray (who I lived with in LA and now is a producer in Canada) are a great help too, they bring so much to the table, we have formed a tight team of people who we love and trust.
Roger: The studio experience is awesome, I love the whole process of watching everything come to fruition. The only downside is discovering (on a personal note) how bad you sound when you sing!
